If you want to use your Cisco 7940 & 7960 with asterisk you firstly need to unlock the phone.

To do this enter:

**# (for older firmware) or by selecting unlock config from the config menu

The default password is "cisco"

Once in you can then enable DHCP and specify an alternate TFTP server to have your SIP firmware images sent to the phone
