Sku011.cab

Thu, 2006-01-26 23:05 — superuser

Stupid annoying error upon installation - on a clean install or when setting up outlook under a new profile for example. If like me you were miles away from the office or lost the CD this can be a PAIN, after searching for hours I thought I'd make a note of this both for the future and to help others having the same problem.

Solution below:
Regedit (start menu -> run -> type regedit)

Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software -> Microsoft -> Office -> 11.0 -> Delivery

There should be only 1 directory under Delivery, which is your DownloadCode (mine was 90000409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9). Select that directory. On the right side of the screen, right-click on CDCache. Change the value to 0.

[Update] thanks for the few hundred responses from those this has worked for, good to see it helped you.

It worked as a charm, thank you very much. I had the same problem trying to upgrade from MO 2003 to 2007 and didn't have the CD. I kept getting the horrible message of SKU011-cab needed and than it's the end of the installation. I tried this method and it worked a miracle. Thank you so much.

Tried to change the registry value of CDCache but on navigating to Microsoft > Office > Delivery > Downloads could not find CDCache for Key Name 90000409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9 ?

There was also another sub-directory called Sources with two other similar Key Names in it but no CDCache ?

Could you help please ?

Thanks.

All well, found the files no problem - but when I got to the code, there was 4 of them! Why would this be?

I have set them all to "0" because I have no idea which one to do - or, should I be looking closely at something, what I may have missed?

Would appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks

I did run regedit and expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software -> and so on and changed the value of CDcache to '0'. But I got the error 1311 message like many other that mentioned.

In my case, mine missed IJ561401.cab
"error 1311.Sourse file not found C:\MSOCache\All Users\90000409-6000-11D3-8CFE-01500-48383C9\IJ561401.CAB."

So I google searched and got the file from 4shared.com

and put I put the file in C:\MSOCache\All Users\90000409-6000-11D3-8CFE-01500-48383C9\

That solved both bugs but took all my morning :)

John's Tech Blog (not verified) says:

After putting off my 2003 to 2007 upgrade for some time due to disk space restrictions (can you believe that my laptop has a 20Gb C: drive??!?) I was finally forced to do the upgrade today, when Outlook stopped playing ball. However, as part of the process of freeing up disk space, I stupidly deleted the i386 directory which I *knew* was only needed during installs....!

Obviously, I then hit the Sku11.cab problem that you described and envisaged a full day of messing about to get things working. Thanks to your research, I was able to move on and get up and running in no time! :)

Many, many thanks! :)

Kind regards,
-John.

I am trying to instal my FAVOURED (old but very workable) MS Office 2003 over the (HORRID) Windows home Vista, which is on a TRIAL period. I do NOT want to purchase it. I want to use my MS office 2003!

I can't understand half of the commands in Vista or where to go/how to use your command Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software -> Microsoft -> Office -> 11.0 -> Delivery

I get as far as
"OFFICE" - where I am told "(Default)" "REG_SZ" "(Value not set)

"11.0" "12.0" "COMMON" "DELIVERY" "INFOPATH" "OUTLOOK"

Under "11.0" I have I have "COMMON"
Under this I have "INSTALLROOT"
"OUTLOOK"

I need your advice PLEASE as to where to go (HOW TO)get to the place to carry out the final part of your instruction:

"There should be only 1 directory under Delivery, which is your DownloadCode (mine was 90000409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9). Select that directory. On the right side of the screen, right-click on CDCache. Change the value to 0."

Tall Guy (not verified) says:

In my case I got a new error after changing the CDcache value with Regedit.

I found I needed to reboot my computer after changing the variable in Regedit, and then ran the update program again from the start.

Why is MS doing this to us??? My guess is it is their feeble attempt at preventing us all from sharing one licensed copy of Office. By requiring the disk on simle updates it forces you to have a disk somewhat handy. I don't know about anyone elese, But I have moved three times in the last three years, God only knows where my original disks are....

Note, this is just another way MS is proving they are the evil empire - I was trying to update my legal copy of Office to SP3, and they killed the whole thing because I didn't have the disk I bought four years ago - at least let me get back to where I started and don't destroy the old installation.

And shame on you people out there who are using Office 2007, that is what started my whole problem, a client sent me a Powerpoint 2007 document (in 2007 format), and it wasn't reading it, even after downloading the converter.

This fix does work. Thank you superuser.

I have two keys under delivery.
I have tried changing the value to 0 for both, and indivually and a new error pops up. it can no longer find the file PA56140.CAB.
I don't exactly know how to manually download it and what to do after I download it.
Otherwise, I can try downloading and the .CAB file, but if that doesn't work I don't know what to do!
Someone please awnser my prayers!!

Thanx!!
OFC i had to go through this:

The key to fixing this error
“error 1311.Sourse file not found D:\MSO Cache\All Users\90000409-6000-11D3-8CFE-01500-48383CD\YS561401.CAB.
VERIFY THAT THE FILE EXISTS AND YOU CAN ACCESS IT.”

is verifying which CAB file is missing! It may be just 1 or even more.

On my computer it was missing "MT561403.CAB"

I was able to download this from
http://www.knights-templar.com/FRONTPAGE2003/MT561403.CAB

then installed it into D:\MSO Cache\All Users

It worked!!!

So,thanx to u both ;)

Thanks a lot, It worked at a very crucial junctire for me. My Excel was not even opening.

One of those stupid, inane and things that keep reminding the world that we need alternatives for Bill Gates and his men in Microsoft.
