Blackberry Professional Software Express

Fri, 2009-05-29 10:41 — rb

I installed the free 1-user version of Blackberry Pro Software Express (BPS) yesterday and was quite straight forward. This was onto the same server as Exchange 2003.
Just two issues arose which stumped me for a bit.
The first was one of the Curve handsets would not activate. This was because the activation email which came from Blackberry was been caught by Outlook's junk mail filter and was the activation only works if the email is in the main inbox. Turning off the junk filter in Outlook solved that problem.
The second was the Blackberry whilst activated would sync everything but the calendar. The fix was to copy cdo.dll from the exchsrvr\bin folder to c:\windows\system32 and then run a regsvr32 cdo.dll

I had a lot of problems with Blackberry Pro Software Express too. It is just terrible how they provide their services. First of all they should correct this mistake with junk e-mail.. Because it was an issue for me for quite a long time. Secondly, this software is not working properly for me. I am always getting some sort of errors, while trying to launch it. In other words, the service is just terrible and I hope that it will be better in the future. By the way, thanks for the great article. I will be waiting for other ones from you.

Sincerely,

I'm just about to do this.

Did you already have a blackberry handset thats working using the mobile operators BB services and "transfer" to your installation? If you did, did you do anything special to get it to work?
